Our founder Grace has spent 24 years working closely with hospitals and community-based social work teams in the UK as a social worker. These years of experience instilled Grace with a strong sense of social responsibility that has driven her in her personal and professional life.  She holds a B.A in Social Work and a Certificate of Qualification in Social Work (CQSW).

She also writes in her spare time and has written three books ranging in subjects from climate change to caring for her mother, who suffered from on-set dementia.

Grace’s altruistic nature has led her to found two charities focussed on helping people in Zambia and the UK. Her first charity, Dementia Awareness in Ethnic Minorities in the UK and Zambia, was founded in 2010. After her experience caring for her mother, Grace realised that there was a lack of understanding of the needs of dementia sufferers in Zambia. This charity aims to highlight Dementia awareness and dispel the stigma that surrounds the illness.

In 2019, Grace visited Mansa General Hospital in Zambia’s Luapula province and realised something was amiss. Despite the generally good care that patients received, Grace found that the needs of the families of the poorer patients were not being met. Some family members were bringing their sick and pregnant relatives into the hospital on the back of bicycles. Once they arrived at the hospital, there was no food provided, no cooking facilities, no bathing facilities, and the families of the patients would have to sleep together in an unventilated communal area. Grace saw that improvements had to be made and founded The Friends of Mansa General Hospital. This charity aims to improve the conditions for the families of patients at the hospital and ensure they have all they need to properly care for themselves.

Cindy donates her time and helps to collect linen, towels, and toys to be shipped to Zambia.

Tyrone makes a regular contribution of £10 per month.
